How is technology affecting how teachers communicate with students? From access to tone, quite a bit actually.

Social media and technology have revolutionised how we communicate with students. Generally, children eagerly like using technology… teachers often less so. The advent of web 2.0 tools and social media makes it much easier for teachers and students to communicate regularly. I know people who set up private Facebook groups for their high school classes to allow studetns to discuss ideas and content and ask questions. I think this is a fantastic way of communicating.

I was recently giving a workshop at a local elementary school. Walking around and speaking to teachers and children it suddenly dawned on me that several of the “revolutionary” educational changes we’ve been calling for have actually already been around for quite a while – just talk a stroll down to the Kindergarten classes.
